It's a brand new year!
Okay I'm excited about this new year and everything in store for me. School is starting back and I have a great group of students, my brother is going to be in KY a lot more this year so that is awesome and I've reconnected with some wonderful friends and made a lot of new ones. I really want to spend time moving forward and less time looking backward. Life is good.
It's November Right? Pure Joy.
It's really November and the weather is still 70 degrees, the trees are absolutely gorgeous, the moons are bigger than life and it's just great this time of year. I love it. I'm just in disbelief that Thanksgiving is upon us and pretty soon I'll be giving finals and then...whew! I just can't seem to catch up. I just want to make time stand still for a little while so I can take it all in and enjoy.
Where do I sign?!!
Today was a great day. In my booking & touring mgmt class we are learning about contracts and negotiations and I can honestly say that after today's class I was so excited about getting out there and booking some dates! It was fun to talk about the "wheelin' and dealin'" that goes on in this business and it was great to have the enthusiasm from my class. I LOVE my job(s)!!
It's Fall!
Sept 13, 2009
I love this time of year, just before the leaves begin to turn and the air has a nice crisp, clean feel to it, the sky is blue and the only sound you hear is the constant drone of blackbirds catching the last wave of summer on their way South--it's perfect.
The M's have it!
August 19, 2009
This summer I traveled to Milan to visit a special friend who lived with my family years ago as an exchange student. I was thrilled to see him and meet his wife and 5-year old daughter after so many years. I had never been to Milan and it was more than I could have imagined. Beautiful architecture, people, food and lots of beautiful music. On a rather hot and muggy day I decided to venture downtown to the center of Milan to the Duomo area and visit the world famous La Scala. I was simply in awe of the inside of the theatre and could just imagine the many standing ovations taking place there. Several floors up I entered another area that contained actual letters that Mozart had written to his sister when he was staying in Milan and composing for La Scala. It was really astonishing to read his thoughts and have a glimpse into the past of such a genius mind. It was the highlight of my trip and so worth the 5 euros! After two weeks in Milan I traveled on to Paris for a week of wine tasting, museum hopping and strolling along the Seine for the La Fete Musique--a weekend musical festival all over Paris (that just happens to fall on my birthday); however, my trip wouldn't have been complete without viewing the Mona Lisa in all her beauty. Visiting the many beautiful cathedrals and following the Rose line were also highlights of the week, not to mention the adoring frenchmen!
After Paris it was back to New York City to spend a week with my brother relaxing and walking in Central Park, eating ridiculous food, meeting a Monk and surviving the subways! I love the city and can't believe I actually lived there for five years! And just last week I made my yearly trek to the Hollywood Bowl, where I enjoyed an all Mozart evening, and spent lazy days in Malibu sitting on the beach watching the waves and sipping wine at Rosenthal. Now another quick weekend in Manhattan to celebrate a two year old's birthday, sing broadway show tunes with friends at Marie's Crisis and suffer through Cranium in 90 degree heat!! make my summer complete!
As the week draws to a close and school officially resumes and conference season looms, I can't help but feel a little sad and wonder where did the summer go?
